Dinosaur Small World

Small world play set ups can be as simple or as complicated as you like. Personally, I like the simple ones! Because let’s face it, they aren’t going to stay looking pretty and perfect for very long. The children will touch, move, add to and take away whatever they like. Your beautiful fairy world will be overtaken by dinosaurs, ocean small worlds will end up with vehicles running through them, you get the gist…

For this Dinosaur small world I kept it very simple. Fake grass as the base, a blue play silk for water surrounded by rocks from the garden and trees made out of cardboard tubes and cellophane.

The children had fun discovering it set up for them and were quick to start roaring (and battling) with the dinosaurs. The simplicity gave them space to really use their imagination and add to it what they wanted.
